In fact, I even opened up the camper to allow the fresh fall air to circulate within...how lovely!
I hope ya'll had a pleasant Thanksgiving. William arrived just in time for a family breakfast and morning hike. Then, we enjoyed the rest of the day with Don's parents, our four kids and Nate's friend, Brook.
Saturday was our 22nd wedding anniversary! We've been so busy lately, and our work schedules are not always compatible, but we were able to enjoy a "date night" with furniture shopping and a meal at Texas Roadhouse. This is the couch and loveseat we chose for our living room:
There's a pretty patterned accent chair, too. What with the 4 large windows through which abundant natural light will flow into the living room, I went with a darker-colored fabric - hopefully, won't show the inevitable stains in its future! Can't wait for our December 21st delivery - just in time for Christmas!
November went fairly smoothly...and quickly. It's been mild weather for the most part. We've had a couple of ridiculously-cold nights causing our water lines to freeze up temporarily, but otherwise, no catastrophes.
December is likely to be a bit of a whirlwind!
The holidays tend to keep all of us a bit busier than normal anyway, but we just got this news this afternoon:
Our house will be delivered on December 12th. A week sooner than expected! The crane is scheduled to set our house on its new foundation on the 14th, and, if all goes smoothly, we should be able to begin moving our furniture in about 3 days later - Sunday the 17th - woohoo!!
This means we have to keep things moving with the preparations.
Don, Rosie and Nate have been steadily working on our "conditioned crawl space". The concrete will be poured early next week.
Then, Don has a few more trees to chop down so the big rig can pull our house to its permanent location.
I haven't really thought much about what we're giving whom for Christmas gifts this year. Besides, where would I store them at present? The dusty barn? I have a feeling we'll be doing some last minute shopping. And, gift cards are a very real possibility at this point!
These last 6 months.....whoa....a test of patience and fortitude...challenges that threatened to tear us apart...but, ultimately brought us closer.
I have so much to reflect upon....
I'll be sure to photograph as much as I can for posterity! We have neighbors, as well as family and friends, who are fascinated by the concept of a completed house being "delivered", and we're all looking forward to seeing how this goes. If/when I am at the salon during parts of this 4-day process, the girls have strict instructions to take pictures and video footage!
Mickey loves to romp in the bushes and trees around our campers! |
Stay tuned, Folks! The climax of this adventure is right around the corner.
So exciting! I can't wait to see it!
